Influence of Gas Pressure on the Failure Mechanism of Coal-like Burst-Prone Briquette and the Subsequent Geological Dynamic Disasters

Rock bursts and coal gas outbursts are geodynamic disasters in underground mines. Laboratory testing of raw samples is the dominant research method for disaster prediction. However, reliability experimental data low due to inconsistency mechanical properties materials. The utilization structural resources development new coal-like materials significance prediction prevention. This paper studies failure characteristics dynamic propensities burst-prone briquettes under different pressures. A self-made multi-function rock–gas coupling device was developed were synthesized, which greatly improved efficiency precision data. results showed that burst proneness briquette thoroughly reduced at a critical pressure 0.4 MPa. When close 0.8 MPa, both bearing capacity stored energy significantly duration extended considerably, indicating typical plastic-flow outbursts. acoustic emission monitoring with increase pressure, post-peak ringing AE ratio increased, suggesting macroscopic damage pattern changed from bursting-ejecting large pieces stripping–shedding small fragments adhered mylonitic coal. In addition, transformation coexistence modes discussed perspectives geology migration. study provides scientific compound prevention mines high contents.
